Operation Patriot Press 2024

FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. - During my week with the Pennsylvania National Guard's 131st Transportation Company, 228th Transportation Battalion, 213th Regional Support Group, I observed the critical role played by the M915 tractor truck as 131st TC Soldiers participated in Army Materiel Command's Operation Patriot Press, an annual nationwide ammunition redistribution mission supports the Army’s strategic positioning goals.

The M915 served as the primary workhorse in our convoy, transporting essential supplies and equipment to our destinations. Equipped with a robust 450-horsepower engine and a payload capacity of up to 60,000 pounds, it demonstrated exceptional strength and resilience, navigating through diverse terrain with ease.

Throughout our training mission, the M915 operated seamlessly alongside our Soldiers, showcasing its reliability and efficiency. Despite facing challenging conditions, including narrow trails and adverse weather, the freightliner remained steadfast, ensuring the timely delivery of our cargo.

My interactions with the operators of the M915 revealed their expertise and camaraderie. Spc. Thomas Adams and Pfc. Dakota Sims, both motor transport operators, demonstrated not only proficiency in operating the vehicle but also shared a passion for music, which seemed to fuel their confidence behind the wheel. Spc. Austin Costley, with over a decade of military experience and a civilian background in logistics, exemplified precision and expertise as he maneuvered the M915 with ease during a fuel stop, showcasing his skill and professionalism.

The M915 serves as a vital asset for the Pennsylvania National Guard, embodying the spirit of service and sacrifice that defines our organization. Its reliability, strength and precision make it an indispensable tool in fulfilling our mission readiness objectives. As we continue to uphold our duty to defend and serve, we can rely on the M915 to ensure the seamless movement of our forces and resources, both in training exercises and during times of crisis.
