Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) is bolstering its COVID-19 vaccination efforts by offering the COVID-19 bivalent booster vaccine dose to infants and young children.
Until now, WRNMMC offered the bivalent booster dose to beneficiaries 5 years of age and older and is now offering the bivalent booster dose to beneficiaries 6 months through 4 years of age. This additional offering comes after the FDA amended the emergency use authorization of the bivalent Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to include this younger age group.
Before coming to the COVID Vaccine site, parents and caregivers are reminded that a waiting period applies.
“Similar to the other age groups, a primary COVID-19 toddler vaccine series completed at least two months prior is required before they can receive a bivalent booster vaccine,” said Army Col. Jason Blaylock, WRNMMC’s director for medicine.
WRNNMC offers all FDA-approved and authorized COVID-19 Pfizer and Novavax vaccine and booster doses.
The WRNMMC COVID Vaccine Site is located in Building 9 on the first floor, open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Federal holidays.
