First 82nd Airborne Division Soldier to re-enlist: 2010, Afghanistan

Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan — At the stroke of midnight, troopers from 122nd Aviation Support Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade gathered to witness the re-enlistment of U.S. Army Sgt. Michael L. Williams, Company A, 122nd ASB making him the first 82nd Airborne Division Trooper to re-enlist in 2010.

Williams, a re-enlistment non-commissioned officer for122nd ASB re-enlisted for four additional years of regular Army service with hope to continue career progression and future assignments overseas.

When asked about being the first 82nd Abn. Div. trooper to re-enlist in 2010 Williams replied with, "This is an outstanding moment in my life; a once and a lifetime opportunity and I am really impressed with the turn out and support of people from 122nd ASB."

After taking his Oath of Re-enlistment administered to him by Co. A, 122nd ASB Commander, U.S. Army Capt. John Abella, Williams drew the attention of the crowd with thanks and emphasized the importance of continued service and commitment to the United States military through tough times and deployments.
