Single Marine Program Conducts Base Clean-Up

Volunteers with the Single Marine Program (SMP) cleaned the intersection of Roosevelt Boulevard and Slocum Road, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, Sept. 4, 2022. This event was part of a base clean-up initiative to maintain a safe and effective training and living environment for service members and their families, while inspiring pride for the air station community.

While certain areas of the air station are designated to be maintained by contractors, areas such as on-base housing and unit buildings is the responsibility of the residents and individual units, respectively.
The SMP coordinator, Vanessa Golden, works with the unit SMP representatives to present volunteer opportunities, allowing individual units to maintain their areas of operation while residents are responsible for the housing areas.

Members of several air station tenant organizations volunteered to assist with the base clean-up alongside the Cherry Point Fire Department and Marine Corps Community Services.
