New Bern Military Alliance honors Cpl. Crooks as Service Person of the Quarter

U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Austin Crooks, an administrative specialist assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, was recognized and celebrated as the Service Person of the Quarter by the New Bern Military Alliance at the New Bern Golf and Country Club, New Bern, North Carolina, Sept. 8, 2022.

Crooks was nominated by his leadership for his volunteerism. In his spare time, Crooks volunteers at the Craven County Humane Society, and rehabilitation and nursing facilities in both Havelock and New Bern. At MCAS Cherry Point, Crooks takes on multiple collateral duties: a Single Marine Program Representative, Fire Warden, and he is assigned to the Emergency Operations Center.

“Helping someone else is the best part about volunteering.” said Crooks.

Service Person of the Quarter is held by the communities that surround Cherry Point, celebrating Marines and Sailors that go above and beyond to invest in the installation and local community with their time and talent.

“I hope this reaches more Marines,” Crooks said. “It would be great to see other people get recognized for going above and beyond. I hope this inspires them.”
