“Who doesn’t like to see a live rocket get fired!?” Lieutenant Colonel Derrick S. Draper, Commander of 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), said while excitedly watching as Soldiers began the trek up to their firing positions.
Soldiers from the 3-187th Infantry Battalion (Iron) were equally as excited as their multi-day qualifications came to a close with the chance for select Expert Gunners to shoot live AT4 rounds.
Qualifications included firing specially made AT4 simulation rounds that are comparable to the 5.56mm NATO rounds; which the Soldiers are very familiar with.
