KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan — Two rockets were shot in the Tag Ab market of Kapisa province, Afghanistan, killing and wounding Afghan civilians, Nov. 16.
More than 300 meters from the market, a Shura was taking place between Afghan local authorities, Afghan elders and Task Force La Fayette authorities. French Brigadier General Marcel Druart, commander, TF La Fayette, and Brigadier General Paikan Zamaray, commander, 3rd Brigade, 201st Afghan national army, were speaking with local Afghans when the two rockets struck the market.
French forces immediately committed assets to help victims of this attack. Helicopters deployed to ensure the protection of the area and to bring in medical staff to provide first-aid to the victims. American helicopters reinforced TF La Fayette by ensuring evacuation of the victims to several military hospitals.
Today, Druart and Zamaray held a press conference and visited the victims at the French medical facility at Kabul International Airport.
