JOINT BASE ELMENDORF RICHARDSON, Alaska. – North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) will be conducting air defense operations from Anchorage, October 13-14.
The operation will feature a variety of military aircraft from the United States Air Force (USAF) and Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). While the majority of the flights will be conducted over sparsely populated areas and at high altitudes where the public is not likely to hear or see them, the public may notice an increase in military presence and flying activity in the vicinity of Anchorage for the duration of the operation.
All military personnel participating in Operation NOBLE DEFENDER are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 a minimum of two weeks prior to arrival. In addition, local, state and Department of Defense guidelines, regulations and orders regarding public health measures will be adhered to (including physical distancing, hand hygiene and the use of non-medical masks when physical distancing cannot be maintained) for the duration of the operation.
The defense of Canada and the U.S. is NORAD’s number one priority. While our air operations may change, our vigilance will not. NORAD continues to execute its missions with the same conviction and diligence that has been the command’s trademark since 1958.
