MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE N.C. – U.S. Marines and sailors with II Marine Expeditionary Force provided Ukrainian Marine Corps Col. Vitalyi Parckhomenko, chief of logistics of the Ukrainian Marines Command, with a demonstration of Marine Corps logistics capabilities, designed to expand their understanding of combat service support in a tactical environment, Aug. 31, 2021.
It was a pivotal point for the Marine Corps and Ukrainian forces, as it focused on developing a working understanding of our logistical process to adopt a similar model for their own use, said U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Stephen Simmons, the Reserve Logistics Integration Officer.
During the visit, Ukrainian leaders toured the Marine Corps Combat Service Support School and received an amphibious engineer reconnaissance demonstration, which included Marines utilizing Combat Rubber Raiding Crafts and providing security while conducting water operations.
“A successful mission requires logistics that cannot be provided organically and our ability to work with our partners in the host nation enables our force to rapidly accomplish its objectives,” said Simmons. “The individual professional relationships that we developed through working with our counterparts were proven valuable as we continue to plan future exercises together.”
