NC Guard Leader Retires After More Than 3 Decades of Service

Army Col. Stephen P. Jones of Holly Springs, North Carolina, officially retired Sept. 1, 2021, from the North Carolina National Guard with 34 years of NCNG service and a total of 37 years of military duty. Friends, family, fellow Soldiers, and NCNG staff honored his commitment to state and nation with a ceremony at NCNG Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina

Jones last assignment was command of the NCNG’s 113th Sustainment Brigade headquartered in Greensboro. He is a veteran of multiple state and overseas deployments including Operation Iraqi Freedom and Joint Guardian in Kosovo.

“His leadership has helped our state,” said Army Maj. Gen. Todd Hunt, NCNG Adjutant General.
