KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan — Kandahar Airfield opened the U.S. Joint Medical Treatment Facility, Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009. The building will be run by the 575th Area Support Medical Company.
The facility will provide health services and sick call care to U.S. units without organic medical assets.
"The new clinic will take on U.S. forces personnel to take some of the load off Role 3," said Sgt. 1st Class Lee Bucklin, non commissioned officer in charge of the clinic.
"The goal is to take good care of the Soldiers and get them right back out there," said Bucklin
Capt. Constantine Voyevidka, commander of the 575th ASMC, said that the clinic's primary mission is to keep Soldiers in the fight. The clinic will not only take care of primary and sick call cares but also has behavioral health, blood and many other benefits for service members.
"Our job is to keep KAF healthy," said Voyevidka.
Also in attendance for the opening was Col. Walt Hinton, officer in charge of 30th Medical Command.
