First Army’s Change of Command Ceremony Welcomes Lt. Gen. Antonio Aguto As Its New Commanding General.

First Army welcomed its new Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Antonio A. Aguto Jr., at First Army's Change of Command Ceremony on July 8, 2021, at First Army Headquarters, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Ill. Lt. Gen. Antonio A. Aguto Jr., who was promoted to Lieutenant General earlier that morning, spoke of his service, commitment, and duty which followed his family's history of selfless service.

Outgoing Commanding General of First Army, Lt. Gen. Thomas S. James Jr., welcomed the new commander, speaking after the traditional handing of the flags, signifying the transition to a new commander. Lt. Gen. James celebrated his retirement ceremony after the event.

FORSCOM Commanding General, Michael X. Garrett, spoke at all three events, honoring Lt. Gen. James for his service and welcoming Lt. Gen. Aguto into the Deed Family at First Army.
