GHWB Gets a New Fit Boss

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Maintaining physical fitness is a crucial component within the United States of America’s fighting forces. Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Guardians all must maintain a level of fitness that allows them to accomplish the mission when called upon. Keeping in shape is easy for some, but not all. This is where a Fit Boss comes in, and USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) Fit Boss is Jason Boyd.
“I am here to help the Sailors aboard CVN 77 be as physically ready as they can be,” said Boyd, a native of Chicago. “There has been a long layover with COVID affecting our everyday routines. My goal is to help every Sailor get back in shape.”
Boyd is new to GHWB, but brings a wealth of knowledge to the ship. A native of Chicago, Boyd earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies with a concentration in Clinical Exercise Physiology, both from Eastern Illinois University. Boyd spent the last five years in San Diego, teaching at the University of California, San Diego as a strength and conditioning instructor.
Boyd’s goal for GHWB is to help every Sailor pass their Physical Readiness Test (PRT), as well as meet and exceed their own fitness goals.
