HOHENFELS, Germany - U.S. Air Force Soldiers assigned to the 435th Contingency Response Group of Ramstein, Germany, conducted ground training at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center March 3-10, 2021. The 435 Security Forces Squadron, Contingency Response Squadron, and the Contingency Response Support Squadron were on task in the vicinity of the short take-off and landing (STOL) airstrip located at the Hohenfels Training Area.
The purpose of the training was to prove the 435th CRG’s capability to open the base and perform air advisor operations in a contested environment. The training was divided into three phases. The first phase showcased expedited planning and mission preparation, and the second and third phases tested the unit’s ability to conduct rapid airfield assessment and provide air advisor support.
The unit also conducted an airborne insertion onto Fritsche drop zone, where the troops tactically moved to the STOL airstrip and assessed the environment.
Each squadron involved in the training was assigned unique missions and goals. The focus of training included integrated base defense, as well as command and control of integrated defense operations.
