Federal police at Frankfurt Airport increases checks on flights from high-risk areas

FRANKFURT/MAIN - Starting on 24 January, the Federal Police (Bundespolizei) at Frankfurt Airport will intensify controls on flights from 32 so-called high-risk areas.
The mandatory entry requirements are also consistently checked. This includes, in particular, the verification of digital and manual entry declarations as well as proof of a current negative corona test. The checks will be carried out before the actual border control, directly at the aircraft upon arrival.
All measures will be carried out in close consultation with the health authorities, the Hessen State Police, the airport operator and the air carriers. These special measures by the Federal Police will cover 17 flights from five countries on Sunday, 24 January.
The countries of origin affected by these orders can be found on the website of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) at www.rki.de/risikogebiete. The list is constantly updated.
The additional measures are intended to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and to identify people who need to be quarantined immediately.
The Federal Police actively supports the fight against the pandemic with these measures.
In view of the situation, the Federal Police recommends that travel should be dispensed with in general, or that it should only be used for important reasons.
