HOHENFELS, Germany - U.S. Military leaders from across Europe met virtually in a Sustainment Symposium, the first in a series of meetings and events geared towards addressing ongoing concerns and issues for military leaders.
I think the Symposium was very successful because we brought all the key leaders together for the first time across Europe,” Lt. Col. Charles Montgomery, Senior Sustainment Trainer of the Adler team at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center, said.
Keynote speakers took time to address major concerns within the military community. The topics ranged from soldiers’ mental health and wellbeing, to strategic planning for safe and successful training exercises.
Montgomery said that while the initial Symposium was broad in scope in order to introduce leaders to each other and begin discussions, future meetings will be more targeted in the subject matter, and will be designed to break an issue down for discussion and finding solutions.
“The most crucial thing we accomplished today is to bring everyone together,” Montgomery said. He added that the event gave military leaders the opportunity to network, and find resources that will be helpful in addressing sustainment issues that they are working to resolve.
The Adler team at JMRC works to provide sustainment and readiness training to units throughout Europe. At the Symposium, Montgomery emphasized the availability and ability the Adlers have to travel to other bases and assist in training.
“We want to make the Adler team an exportable training package,” he said. “We are an important training resource, and we want to make sure everyone is taking advantage of that. We are here to support the theatre.”
