Two ISAF service members killed in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan— Two International Security Assistance Force service members were killed today in a firefight with insurgents that occurred in the south of Afghanistan.

"I convey my most heartfelt sympathies to the families, friends and comrades of these brave service members," said Brigadier-General Eric Tremblay, ISAF Spokesperson. "They fell as they were providing much needed security to the Afghan population in the south. ISAF nations stand united in this tough but winnable struggle to protect Afghan civilians."

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Next of kin have been informed.
