Under the Total Force Initiative, Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service has been restructured into the 367th Recruiting Group under Air Force Recruiting Service’s chain of command.
The Northern, Eastern, Central and Western reserve recruiting squadrons were inactivated on June 20, 2020, per Department of the Air Force Letter 913 dated May 15, 2020, and the 350th, 351st, 352nd and 353rd Recruiting Squadrons were constituted on May 15, 2020, as the new units. The initiative allows for improved coverage through cooperative strategizing.
“The Air Force recruiters will still recruit for active-duty and the Reserve recruiters will still recruit for the AFR,” said Senior Master Sgt. Jason Sommers, the 910th Airlift Wing Recruiting Service’s Flight Chief.
The biggest change in the public’s perspective will be in recruitment advertising.
“They’ve consolidated the advertising budget so you will be seeing more partnerships between AF and AFR at major events,” said Sommers.
For those interested in joining the Air Force Reserve, recruiters now have the capability to share information between AF and AFR recruiters. This means if midway through your recruitment you decide you’d rather switch from active-duty to reserve, or vice versa, your recruiter can send your information to their counterpart. Before the change, you’d have to restart the process.
