MIHAIL KOGALNICEANU AIR FIELD, Romania — U.S. Soldiers from the 4th Squadron of the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment based in Vielsec, Germany, visited six villages Monday with their Stryker combat vehicles near the Babadag Training Area in Tulcea County in eastern Romania. Soldiers interacted with local Romanian's visiting, sharing stories and discussing training they will be conducting in the local region. About 500 citizens greeted the Soldiers and got a closer look at the Stryker combat vehicles.
Approximately 850 U.S. Soldiers and support personnel from the 2 SCR commence side-by-side training this week with members of the Romanian 33rd Mountain Troops Battalion based out of Curte De Arges, Romania through the end of October 2009 as part of U.S. Army Europe's Joint Task Force-East. The JTF-East mission focus is to increase theater security cooperation in the region, build interoperability capabilities and develop personal and professional relationships.
