KABUL, Afghanistan — Two International Security Assistance Force service members were killed today as a result of two separate incidents involving improvised explosive device strikes that occurred in southern Afghanistan.

"I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of these two fine soldiers," said Brig. Gen. Eric Tremblay, ISAF spokesperson.

"Alongside our Afghan security partners, ISAF soldiers are making a significant contribution in one of the toughest parts of the country. These hard sacrifices are making a real difference for the population of Afghanistan."

It is ISAF policy not to release the nationality of any casualty prior to the relevant national authority doing so.

Next of kin have been informed.
