KFOR Freedom of Movement Detachment rehearses obstacle removal

KFOR multinational partners Ukraine, Italy, Austria and the U.S. participated in Freedom of Movement Detachment training (obstacle removal).

The obstacle removal was executed by Italian engineer personnel, Austrian explosive ordnance disposal personnel, and U.S. infantry personnel.

In the event that security situations deteriorate in RC-E’s area of responsibility, FOM-D personnel are capable of rapidly deploying to the area to ensure the safety and security of the people of Kosovo, said Ukrainian Armed Forces Maj. Andrii Dublian, a FOM-D trainer and coordinator.

Dublian said the purpose of the training is to optimize communication between the multinational forces in order to remain proficient in their maneuvering capabilities.

“FOM-D training is essential to the KFOR mission,” said Dublian. “If there were ever a need, each multinational component will be ready to respond to any deteriorating-security situation.”
