VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA – MK VI Alpha Company held an assumption of command ceremony on January 9, 2020.
During the ceremony, LCDR Christian Seymour assumed the first ever Commanding Officer position of Coastal Riverine Squadron TWO (CORIVRON TWO) MK VI Alpha Company.
Seymour commissioned in the Navy in 2008 following his service as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines from 2000-2004; completing three operational deployments. LCDR Seymour is a native of Southbury, CT and obtained a Bachelors in Finance from Radford University in 2006. In 2014, LCDR Seymour obtained a Masters in Operations Research from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA. Prior to assuming command, he served as the Staff Director/N1 at Destroyer Squadron TWENTY TWO.
Under Seymour’s leadership, Coastal Riverine Squadron TWO MK Vi Company will deploy in support of defense priorities CORIVRON TWO is part of the Coastal Riverine Force (CRF), which operates in harbors, rivers, bays, across the littorals and ashore. The primary mission of the CRF is to conduct maritime security operations across all phases of military operations by defending high value assets, critical maritime infrastructure, ports and harbors both inland and on coastal waterways against enemies, and when commanded conduct offensive combat operations.
The CRF is comprised of units manned, trained, and equipped to conduct port and harbor security, high-value asset security and escort, surveillance and reconnaissance, insertion and extraction of small units and command and control for supporting assigned units. The CRF is capable of conducting 24-hour operations in all weather conditions and climates.
