Montgomery natives Adarious Gibbs and Isaiah Walker-Trammell will spend their time home for the holidays after completing the U.S. military’s most rigorous basic training.
U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Adarious Gibbs and Lance Cpl. Isaiah Walker-Trammell both said they are both looking forward to spending time at home with friends and family while also helping the Marine Corps while home.
“It is great to have some relaxation time and spend time with family and friends I haven’t seen in forever,” said Walker-Trammell. “I’m actually stationed in California, so being able to come home for the holidays really means a lot.”
Gibbs recently graduated Marine Combat Training and is currently attending his military occupational school in Ft. Lee, Virginia to become a small arms technician.
“Since my brief time in the Marine Corps, I feel as if my life has done a complete 180,” said Gibbs. “I still remember graduating boot camp and coming home on leave and my friends and family barely recognizing me.”
Sgt. Cameron Raymond, a recruiter with RSS Montgomery, said he’s humbled to assist in the transformation from civilian to Marine.
“There is no more rewarding feeling than helping a young man or woman prepare for the trials that they’ll face at Parris Island and watching them come back those 13 weeks later as a Marine.”
Gibbs and Walker-Trammel are two of 712 young men and women from the Montgomery area who RS Montgomery has prepared for Marine Corps Recruit Training over the past year. The mission of RS Montgomery is to find the most highly qualified young men and women in Alabama and help them begin the transition from civilian to Marine. Ultimately, the Marine Corps’ goal is to prepare these young men and women to become ethical warriors who fight our nation’s battles and return to their local communities as contributing members of society.
