The Pennsylvania Air National Guard (PAANG) inducted retired Brig. Gen. Stanley J. Jaworski as the 61st member of its Hall of Fame during this year’s annual Fall Leadership Forum.
“Gen. Jaworski’s career has left and continues to leave its mark on our organization,” said Brig. Gen. Michael Regan, PAANG commander. “He is a fitting inductee into our prestigious Hall of Fame that is reserved for only those who have shown exceptional commitment to the organization while exemplifying the service’s core values of integrity, service and excellence.”
Jaworski was commissioned in 1973 through Rutgers University’s Air Force ROTC program beginning what would become a 33-year career of service to the nation and commonwealth. Throughout his career, including active duty and National Guard, he served as a missile crew commander, Air Force ROTC instructor, executive officer, group commander, legislative fellow and several other positions enhancing the working relationships between a host of federal and civilian agencies.
He successfully proposed and led the creation of the 193rd Regional Support Group based at the installation, ultimately serving as the group’s first commander in 1999. He then returned to the PAANG’s state headquarters in 2002, serving in a variety of senior leadership roles to include director of the newly-formed joint staff within the state’s joint force headquarters.
Following military retirement, he continued to make valuable contributions to the Pennsylvania National Guard serving as director of its Northeast Counterdrug Training Center and chief of legislative affairs. Additionally, he has a long history of service to preserving the organization’s history before and after his retirement where he has served as an instrumental board member of the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Museum. Jaworski currently resides in Glen Allen, Virginia.
The PAANG Hall of Fame was established in 1988 to recognize contributions and significant achievements in service and support of the organization and is displayed outside the PAANG headquarters in Edward Martin Hall on the installation.
