NRD San Antonio holds Recruiting District Assistance Council Meeting

SAN ANTONIO – (Sept. 26, 2019) To support America’s Navy’s recruitment of high-quality men and women in Central and South Texas, Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio hosted a Recruiting District Assistance Council (RDAC) meeting at St. Philip’s College’s Good Samaritan Veterans Outreach and Transition Center.

Members of the community to include retired service members, civic groups, educators, and business representatives attended.

NRD Commanding Officer, Cmdr. Nicholas Gamiz briefed the attendees on the organization of the recruiting district to include its successes and challenges.

“Community evolvement is one our commander of Navy Recruiting Command’s top initiatives,” said Gamiz, a Naval aviator. “It centers around encouraging and building centers of influence (COIs) outside of the recruiting district to accomplish the mission.”

RDAC members assist Navy recruiting by joining talents available in Navy-related organizations, the civilian community, and the Naval Reserve. It is a resource for NRD San Antonio to tether the talents available in the civilian community to assist in the recruiting effort.

Additionally, RDAC provides direct referrals, help increase Navy Awareness, provide inroads to COIs, and assist in promotion and support of special events and local media access.

“We cover a very large area of Texas and our recruiters are working very hard to accomplish our recruiting goals,” said Gamiz. “I am thankful for those members of the community who were able to attend the meeting to further help the district succeed.”

NRD San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
