NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2019) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District announces that the Cordell Hull Lake staff is seeking applicants for the 9th Annual Defeated Creek Youth Deer Hunt.
The Corps of Engineers is hosting the youth deer hunt in partnership with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency at the Defeated Creek and Tailwater Recreation Areas the morning of Saturday, Dec. 7, and noon Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019.
This year’s hunt is accommodating 10 permitted hunters and two alternates with the goal of improved management of the deer population within these areas.
Hunters must be between the ages of 10 and 16 to apply for the hunt and must have completed a TWRA approved hunter safety education class. Youths must be accompanied by a mentor 21 or older who must also be hunter safety certified, unless born on or before Jan. 1, 1969.
Applications are available at the Cordell Hull Lake Resource Manager’s Office located at 71 Corps Lane, Carthage, TN, 37030, or by e-mailing Kenny.a.claywell@usace.army.mil. Applications must be received by 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. Call the office at 615-735-1034 for more information.
