RIO DE JANEIRO – Sailors and Marines, assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50), participated in a sports day in Rio de Janeiro, Aug. 21.

The day included various sports and concluded with a barbecue alongside partner nations during UNITAS LX (60).

“Sailors and Marines from the USS Carter Hall came together to participate in an international sports day to foster the spirit of UNITAS LX,” said Lt. Cmdr. Rick Williams, the command chaplain on Carter Hall. “The participants made integrated teams representing the various countries to compete in such activities as soccer, golf, and volleyball. Events like today help  to strengthen the interoperability and communications skills with our partner nations.”

Carter Hall is currently in port in Rio de Janeiro to participate in UNITAS LX.
