Fort McCoy's 2019 Women's Equality Day Observance

Amy Van Deuren, Ph.D., superintendent of the Sparta (Wis.) Area School District, gave a presentation Aug. 15, 2019, during the Fort McCoy (Wis.) observance of Women’s Equality Day in McCoy's Community Center.

Dozens of people attended the event.

Women’s Equality Day is observed annually on Aug. 26, which was chosen to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote, according to www.nationalwomenshistoryalliance.org.

Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin.

The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
