Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC), NAVFAC’s only warfare center, announced the name change of its expeditionary Construction Equipment Division (CED) to Expeditionary Maintenance Center (EMC).

The name change reflects EXWC’s Expeditionary Programs Office (ExPO) command reorganization as EMC now directly supports EXWC’s Material Readiness Branch. In the past, CED focused primarily on Naval Construction Force equipment upkeep, complimenting the past name. Today, EMC provides expeditionary engineering support, charge proposals, and safety upgrades, starting from form to fit and functionality for all land-to-shore expeditionary maintenance.

“EMC now delivers a true product-solution to provide quality equipment for the warfighter,” said Joseph Paris, EMC Director. “As a world-class organization, it’s our mission to continue to improve our operational readiness and diverse quality support. The EMC name change wholesomely reflects who are customers are and what we deliver.”

The new name takes effect immediately, and is operationally integrated enterprise-wide throughout the calendar year 2020.
