MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan.—The 22nd Force Support Squadron held the 2019 Summer Bash for Airmen and their families July 26, 2019, on McConnell Air Force Base, Kan.

This opportunity allowed Airmen from all across the installation to relax and enjoy all of the festivities offered at the event.

This event hosted concerts of bands 3OH!3 and P.O.D. as well as a variety of food trucks, an open swim area, interactive rides, a zip line, mechanical bull and other activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

“I thought that the Summer Bash was a great event that brought Team McConnell together and provided the perfect opportunity for everyone to unwind,” said Master Sgt. Taisha Fleshman, Summer Bash attendee.

With all of the festivities the event offered there were approximately 1,100 Airmen and their families that came out to have fun and celebrate summer.

“The atmosphere was enjoyable and the smiles and laughter of those in attendance showed that McConnell families had a wonderful time,” said Tara Morton, 22nd Force Support Squadron deputy commander.

There were approximately 150 volunteers who helped set up, ensured that everything ran smoothly during the event and tore everything down after the closing firework show.

“Many, many thanks to everyone that supported behind the scene,” said Morton. “We couldn’t have made this happen without you.”

After three months of planning and preparation the hard work of everyone involved paid off.

“Seeing everyone at the Summer Bash enjoying all the fun, music, food and fellowship was truly heartwarming,” said Morton.

“It was amazing to be able to give back to our Airman and show them that we care and appreciate all of the hard work they do for McConnell,” said 2nd Lt. Jonas Fiant. 22nd FSS officer in-charge readiness.

This year’s Summer Bash was a rewarding experience for everyone that helped coordinate and put the event together, but also for those who got to attend and enjoyed all of the activities that were planned.

The evening ended with colorful fireworks shooting off into the surrounding sky leaving all of the attendees in awe of the night.
