Army Soldiers win Three-Position and Prone Team Championships at CMP Smallbore Nationals

Soldiers with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit’s International Rifle Team competed at the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s 2019 Smallbore Championships in Camp Perry, Ohio July 16 – 24.

In the Three-Position Rifle Championships, the USAMU Soldiers swept the podium in the Aggregate Championships with Spc. Jared Desrosiers claiming the Gold with a 2305-93x. Spc. Brandon Muske took the Silver with a 2297-89x. Sgt. Patrick Sunderman took the Bronze with a 2290-101x.

In the Three-Position Any Sight Rifle Championships, the USAMU Soldiers seized the Gold and Silver. Desrosiers, a Swansea, Massachusetts native, took the top spot with a 1155-47x and Muske, a Brenham, Texas native, came in close behind with a 1151-49x.

The Soldiers moved on to the Three-Position Rifle Finals and swept the podium again, but with a change in order this time. Muske came in first with a 453.9. Sunderman, a Farmington, Minnesota native, was close behind with a 452.3. Then, Desrosiers filled the podium with the U.S. Army logo by taking up third with a 436.4.

In the Three-Position Rifle Team Champions, the USAMU trio joined up with U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Stephen Ferguson to form Joint Task Force Camp Perry and seized the At-Large Team Champion title with a 2155-50x.

When the Three-Position Rifle Championships wrapped up, the USAMU Soldiers switched over to the Prone National Matches.

Sunderman claimed the Gold in the Prone Any Sight Championships with a 3195-258x while Desrosiers took the Silver with a 3195-242x.

Sunderman claimed another Gold in the Prone Aggregate Championships with a 6385-500x while Desrosiers took the Bronze with a 6376-442x.

In the Prone Team Championships, the trio joined up with Staff Sgt. Kevin Nguyen to claimed the Gold with a 2155-50x.
