82nd Cavalry mobilization ceremony

BEND, Ore. - Soldiers of 1st Squadron, 82nd Cavalry were mobilized for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Bend's Mountain View High School Gym Saturday, May 2.

The squadron's 450 Task Force Stetson members from Bend (Headquarters, Headquarters Troop), Lebanon (Alpha Troop), Woodburn (Bravo Troop), Klamath Falls (Charlie Troop) and Clackamas (Special Troops Battalion) were honored by their respective families and friends.

More than 1,500 people attended the ceremony.

Having recently returned from training at Camp Roberts, Calif., the 82nd Cavalry will travel to Ft. Stewart, Ga., for two more months of training. The soldiers will then spend two weeks in Kuwait to become heat acclimated before leaving on their security mission in Iraq.
