Sustainers Provide Water for 25ID During Lightning Forge

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii -- The "Waterdawgs" of the 40th Composite Supply Company (CSC), 25th Sustainment Brigade deployed to Dillingham Beach, Hawaii May 21, 2019 as a part of Lightning Forge 19, where they got hands on training of saltwater purification with a Tactical Water Purification System (TWPS).

The company can treat up to 24,000 gallons of salt water a day and up to 30,000 of fresh water. The water treated then goes out to support the units during Lightning Forge.

"We can take any source of water and make it potable. We can treat any thing from pond water, chemical contaminated water and salt water," said SSG Kevin Creek, a water treatment specialists assigned to 40th CSC primarily responsible for supervising or performing the installation and operation of water purification equipment.

"We take special precautions to make sure nothing harms the ecosystem and no waste is put back into the ocean," said Creek. "Any waste water that can’t go back to its source and can’t be used is transported to the water treatment facility to be further treated and disposed of."

Potable water is crucial to the fight. Being able to utilize salt water builds readiness and ensures that Soldiers have access to clean drinking water, whatever the local conditions.
