Lozano to replace Lovely as Air National Guard education center commander

MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. – U.S. Air Force Col. Kerry R. Lovely will pass command of the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center to U.S. Air Force Col. Kenneth Lozano, May 31, giving the Air National Guard’s principal learning center a new commander.

Colonel Lovely is retiring after more than 33 years of military service. Colonel Lozano takes command after serving as the Air National Guard director of Diversity and Inclusion from the Air National Guard Readiness Center located on Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Steven S. Nordhaus, commander of the readiness center, will preside over the ceremony. It will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Spruance Hall auditorium.

TEC is located at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, just outside Knoxville, as a detachment of the readiness center and conducts enlisted professional military education as well as professional continuing education for the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard, and Reserve Command.

Colonel Lozano commissioned in 1996 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Puerto Rico, San Juan. He served in a variety of financial management assignments at the squadron, wing, numbered Air Force, and National Guard Bureau Joint Staff. He deployed to U.S. Central Command in support of Operations Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom, serving as Deputy Disbursing Agent and as Paying Agent, respectively.

Colonel Lozano’s personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Air Force Meritorious Service Medals, three Air Force Commendation Medals, and the Air Force Achievement Medal, among other service and professional awards.
