ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Army Lt. Gen. Darsie Rogers, deputy director Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), met with the agency’s Albuquerque, New Mexico workforce and gave praise for their teamwork, support to the Defense Nuclear Weapons School (DNWS) and overall dedication to the mission during a multi-site visit on March 20, 2019.
During his visit, Rogers shared details about the future transformation of the agency with its focus on counter threat networks (CTN) and how the newly formed Global Integration Center (GIC) support those efforts.
At an all-hands session during the visit, Rogers discussed the agency’s shift in mission approach and how the sites play a critical role in the overall picture. He explained the function of the GIC, which is enabling DTRA directorates to coordinate resources and planning, and ensures DTRA’s efforts support of Combatant Command requirements.
“The GIC is an invaluable resource to aid in flattening communications across the agency and identifying opportunities to enable our partners in countering WMD and improvised threat networks,” said Rogers. “As the GIC’s capabilities grow I expect it to become the go-to information hub for our internal directorates, liaison officers, forward operators, and combatant command and interagency partners.”
DTRA's Command Senior Enlisted Leader, Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Timothy Horn, who accompanied Rogers, was impressed with the workforce, the scope of the mission and the expertise of the Albuquerque team.
“From the physical test locations to the Defense Threat Reduction Information Analysis Center,” Horn said. “I learn something new each and every time I come visit. It was great to be here with Lt. General Rogers and have him see this part of our work force in action.”
While in Albuquerque, Rogers and Horn toured the Joint Department of Defense-Department of Energy Nuclear Surety Executive Course (JNSEC) where he provided opening remarks to the course participants. He also met with DTRA Albuquerque Senior Leaders and interacted with the workforce.
One of Roger’s final stops was visiting Technical Evaluation and Assessment Monitor Site, which researches, develops, demonstrates and transitions innovative technologies and capabilities to actively counter the full spectrum of threats.
As he departed, Rogers thanked all senior leaders for hosting him and encouraged all personnel to share their ideas on improving communication with their leadership and reminding them that leaders want to hear from them and that their voice matters.
