U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Anthony A. Spadaro, senior enlisted leader of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, held an all-hands call with Sailors assigned to Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea (CNFK) at Commander, Republic of Korea Fleet (COMROKFLT) headquarters January 31, 2019.
Spadaro’s visit to CNFK was a part of an overall visit to the peninsula, where he held all-hands calls with junior enlisted service members as well as engagements with senior enlisted U.S. and ROK military members.
Spadaro met with service members to speak about the future of the Korean peninsula and also discussed medical readiness, preparedness, projecting power.
"We win without fighting by projecting power," said Spadaro. "When we deploy an aircraft carrier, that’s four and a half acres of diplomacy pulling up to foreign shores."
Spadaro spoke of maintaining an operational mindfulness as well.
"You are needed now more than ever,” he told the Sailors. “How do you get ready mentally,
emotionally, and physically every day? If you aren’t ready, get ready.”
CNFK is the regional commander for the U.S. Navy in the Republic of Korea (ROK) and provides expertise on naval matters to area military commanders, including the commander for the United Nations Command; the Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command; and commander, U.S. Forces Korea. CNFK also serves as liaison to the ROK Navy and the Combined Forces commander staff in armistice and in wartime to commander, U.S. 7th Fleet, based in Yokosuka, Japan.
