Sean Sackett is USACE POD's employee of the quarter

Sean Sackett, a Senior Procurement Analyst and deputy to the Regional Chief of Contracting at Pacific Ocean Division (POD) was selected as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE), POD Civilian Employee of the first quarter for fiscal year 2019, during a ceremony on 16 Jan., 2019.

Sackett was recognized by the POD Commander Brig. Gen. Thomas Tickner, and Command Sgt. Major Patrickson Toussaint at the unit's monthly engagement with the workforce gathering.

Tickner said that it is because of people like Sackett that POD continues to be the strategic engineer of choice.

Sackett expressed his surprise at receiving the award and said "I was very surprised and humbled to receive this award, as I know there are so many deserving people in POD that do so many great things for our Division and Districts every single day, especially those that work behind the scenes and out of the lime light. It is truly a privilege and an honor to work with so many talented and outstanding people at POD, and that in itself is its own reward that I cherish every day.

He has worked for POD approximately 18 months, and says that his philosophy for success is very simple, "have a strong work ethic by always giving 100% in everything I do, encourage others to always do their best, and always take care of people to include our customers, stakeholders, partners, employees, and especially our leaders," Sackett said.

Sacket's supervisor, John Jacobson, regional chief of contracting expressed his appreciation. "Sean Sackett is an excellent procurement analyst, and the support he has given the division is second to none. I really appreciate his contributions in everything he does, not only for the division but for all the districts. As a Senior Procurement Analyst, he gives the necessary training for the district leadership in understanding how we do sourcing. In addition he also gives that training to the contract specialists in Alaska, Japan, Korea and here in Honolulu. He ensures that those individuals have the proper training to do their jobs," said Jacobson.

Jacobson went on to speak of the numerous hours, above the call of duty that Sackett puts in weekly to ensure that all of the districts have the support from the contracting office in order to get the job done.

Tickner reemphasized that POD works to ensure that the people the organization hires are of the highest quality, not only in terms of the skills that they possess, but also as it relates to their decorum, and professionalism. This is what ensure that POD continues being the trusted engineer of choice.
