48th Fighter Wing hosts Children’s Holiday Party

The Liberty Wing held its annual Children’s Holiday Party here, Dec. 15, 2018.

Approximately 1,000 children had the opportunity to participate in 25 holiday-related activity tables set up by various squadrons and volunteers from across the Liberty Wing.

“We tried to incorporate the whole wing into this event,” said Capt. Andrew Lyons, 48th Operations Support Squadron F-15E Strike Eagle pilot and event organizer. “We had a variety of fun activities, games, food and drinks for the kids, free of charge.”

Festivities included bouncy houses, holiday crafts, and of course, a photo opportunity with Santa Clause.

“My kids loved attending the Christmas Party and are still talking about the bounce houses,” said Miriam Grunert, event planning and coordination volunteer and party attendee. “They loved the Christmas crafts and music. And who can say no to Santa Claus showing up in an F-15?”

Most families have special ways to celebrate the holiday season. Getting together for events such as this is just one way the Liberty Wing ensure Airmen and their families feel RAF Lakenheath is a home away from home.
