PHIBRON 4 Holds Change of Command

NORFOLK, Va. – Capt. Brain J. Finman relieved Capt. Jack L. Killman as commander Amphibious Squadron 4 during a change of command ceremony in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Dec. 6.
Finman served as the deputy commodore for PHIBRON 4 prior to taking command. His previous sea assignments include serving as commanding officer of the dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47), and executive officer of dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50).
Killman’s next assignment is as commanding officer, Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific, which operates out of Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, California.
Units of PHIBRON 4 recently deployed to the U.S. Fifth and Sixth Fleet areas of operation, during which the transport dock ship USS New York (LPD 21) participated in Operations Inherent Resolve/Odyssey Resolve. The amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), dock landing ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), and embarked units successfully participated in major exercises that included Juniper Cobra, Spring Storm, Alligator Dagger, Eager Lion 18 and Baltic Operations 18.
PHIBRON 4 is currently composed of Iwo Jima and New York, which are homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida; Oak Hill and Carter Hall, which currently operate from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, and Fleet Surgical Team (FST) 8, which is stationed at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. Tactical Air Squadron (TACRON) 22, Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 2, ACU 4 and Beach Master Unit (BMU) 2 are also assigned to PHIBRON 4 and operating out of JEB Little Creek-Fort Story.
