Kaiserslautern Military Community members participated in a sports day, to kick off the 58th annual Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas on Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Oct. 25, 2018.

"The CFC-O is one of the world’s largest and most successful workplace charity campaigns,” said Andy Szabat CFC-O office associate director. “It is an annual opportunity for thousands of charities to showcase themselves to federal employees. It is also an opportunity for federal employees to consider what charities have affected their lives and choose how they want to show some love to that cause.”

The theme this year is participation; the 86th Airlift Wing hosted the sports day to raise awareness about the CFC-O.

Col. Joseph H. Wenckus, 86th Airlift Wing vice commander, provided opening remarks for the event:

“Since 1991, $8.3 billion have been raised through the CFC-O,” Wenckus said. “This is a critical way in which we can show service before self and give something back to the community that we get so much from. This is a great way of shedding some light and raising awareness. I wish you all the best of luck as we work toward raising $141,000 dollars in the community this year.”

Service members and retirees are encouraged to donate until the campaign ends Dec. 14; however donations are accepted through Jan. 11 online.

Szabat added it is also the only opportunity federal employees have to give through their payroll, although there are multiple giving methods available.
