DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. – Team Dover members have the opportunity to “Show Some Love” by contributing to the 2018 Combined Federal Campaign through Nov. 16, 2018.
The CFC officially started Oct. 15 at Dover AFB, giving those who wish to contribute, the option of making their pledge by using a paper pledge form or online to local, national and international charities of their choosing.
Delaware is part of the Chesapeake Bay Area Combined Federal Campaign zone, one of 36 zones located throughout the country and overseas that allow federal employees, including military personnel, to make a pledge at their workplace during the campaign period.
Here at Dover AFB, Capt. Michael McFadden, 436th Aerial Port Squadron operations officer, and Master Sgt. Chad Boley, 436th Medical Operations Squadron superintendent, are the CFC leads for the base, along with more than 15 unit CFC representatives from around the base.
“To date, there are well over 10,000 charities that individuals can donate to,” said Boley. “The fastest and easiest way individuals can donate is to utilize the cbacfc.org website. Individuals can search for a charity by name or can even find local charities within the state of Delaware.”
Team Dover’s CFC goal isn’t monetary, it’s informing 100 percent of base personnel about the opportunity for donating.
“It is important to give to the CFC because this is a part of who we are as Airmen ... giving to the community is simply a part of the Air Force culture,” said Col. Joel Safranek, 436th Airlift Wing commander. “I would encourage all who decide to give to go beyond just simply donating to CFC. Instead find something you care about and donate directly to that cause or those causes.”
Speaking from personal experience, Safranek understands the significance of pledging to the CFC.
“My family has directly benefited from specific organizations due to my son's disability, and this is a chance for me to give back to those organizations,” said Safranek. “I see the same around the base ... wonderful organizations that help our Airmen daily. Now is a chance for our Airmen to give back to those organizations.”
Since 1961, federal employees have pledged millions of dollars annually, totaling $8.3 billion.
