The Indiana National Guard's Atterbury-Muscatatuck complex is uniquely positioned to provide a customizable, affordable environment for training, testing and evaluation. Atterbury-Muscatatuck encompasses more than 35,000 acres of training and maneuver area, allowing users to experience the most complete combination of live, virtual and constructive-gaming (LVC-G) scenarios available anywhere in the U.S. Over the last decade, Atterbury-Muscatatuck has become a preferred destination for organizations seeking both a large-scale constructive exercise environment (Warfighter, Vibrant Response, Cyber Shield), or an infantry brigade combat team or Stryker brigade combat team sized fire-and-maneuver training environment to improve readiness in response to global threats. Atterbury-Muscatatuck stands ready to serve those who defend our homeland and win the peace, including military units, first responders, government agencies and industry from around the globe.
Atterbury-Muscatatuck has four distinct functions: (1) exist as a Power Generation Platform, as identified by Army Forces Command (FORSCOM); (2) perform as a primary Mobilization Force Generation Installation, in concert with 1st Army; (3) support Army Force Generation training initiatives as a Regional Collective Training Capability installation; and (4) provide continuous, traditional training support to Active and Reserve Forces. To perform these functions effectively, Camp Atterbury, Indiana (CAIN) and its non-contiguous range, the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center (MUTC), offer a myriad of unique training and testing possibilities.
CAIN
CAIN provides full logistical and training support for up to two brigade-sized elements simultaneously on more than 34,000 acres. The federally owned facility, licensed to and operated by the Indiana National Guard, offers a variety of training ranges, live-fire venues, restricted airspace with air-to-ground firing capabilities, and an LVC-G simulation and exercise center. CAIN has secure facilities, simulations, ranges, configurable classrooms and conference spaces to provide users with experiences that are versatile and mission-specific. The facility combines a walking campus, new barracks complex and multiple life support features to units conducting large-scale training and pre-operational testing.
MUTC
Recognized as the Department of Defense’s largest urban training facility, MUTC offers a globally unique, customer-tailorable, complex urban operating environment for users to conduct LVC-G testing, training and evaluation. The multi-domain range includes a physical metropolitan infrastructure; a doctrinally correct Combined Arms Collective Training Facility; a rural and urban landscape with over 200 brick and mortar structures; a managed airspace; a 180-acre reservoir; and a cyber “live-fire range” (CyberTropolis) capable of supporting live offensive and defensive operations. These domains are part of the complex battlefield of the 21st Century that includes land, maritime, air, human and cyberspace.
