Mexican, U.S. Marines, Canadian Armed Forces take to the skies of SOCAL

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – U.S. and Mexican Marines will conduct operations in urban terrain and non-combatant evacuation skills July 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. aboard Camp Pendleton during Rim of the Pacific exercise.

U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, and Mexican forces will train side-by-side to improve their ability to fight in urban terrain, while furthering relationships with their international partners. The training serves as a culminating event for the forces after weeks of rehearsals and reviewing tactics, techniques and procedures.

This training will take place at the Infantry Immersion Trainer, or IIT, in the San Mateo area of Camp Pendleton. The IIT provides a state-of-the-art training facility for hyper-realistic practical application of tactical skills and decision-making in an immersive, scenario-based training environment.

Media interested in covering the training on July 9 should contact the 15th MEU Communication Strategy and Operations Deputy Director, 2nd Lt. Cameron Edinburgh, at cameron.edinburgh@usmc.mil, 760-763-4503.
Deadline for RSVPs is July 8 at 12 p.m. Coordinating instructions for link-up and escort will be provided to participating media via follow-up email.
