82nd Airborne Division welcomes new chaplain

FORT BRAGG, North Carolina – Paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division bid farewell to their spiritual leader, U.S. Army Col. Randy Griffin, 82nd Abn. Div. chaplain, during a change of stole ceremony at All American Chapel on Fort Bragg, June 29, 2018.
The chaplains transfer the stole – a long cloth that is worn around the neck – to represent the transfer of pastoral care from one chaplain to another.
Griffin was proud to serve as the division’s spiritual leader from June 2016 to June 2018.
“The privilege of serving as the All American shepherd has truly been the highlight of my career and ministry in the army,” said Griffin.
Griffin handed off his 82nd Abn. Div. chaplain responsibilities to U.S. Army Lt. Col. Eddie Cook. After receiving the stole, Cook said the day was not about him or the outgoing chaplain.
“Today is not a day about any one chaplain. It is about the spiritual legacy of the 82nd Abn. Div,” said Cook.
