The SLCDA is designed to test the mettle of young high school sophomores and juniors from around the nation, taking them outside of their comfort zones and raising their leadership skills and ethical decision making to new heights.

“I am motivated to be a good leader because of my friends and family,” Beier said. “I want to set the example and lead them to make a positive impact on this world.”

As a leader of many talents, Beier spends her time playing soccer, basketball, volleyball, running track, singing, playing piano and saxophone. She balances all of this while maintaining high marks in all classes, especially German and JROTC.

Her drive for success is no accident; she intends to apply her high work ethic and skills learned at SLCDA to get a running start on her next chapter after high school.

“From my experience at SLCDA, I hope I will gain experience that will prepare me for a military academy,” Beier said. “More importantly, I hope that I can become a better leader to deal with problems that I might face in the future.”
