SATTAHIP, Thailand – Multinational forces supporting Pacific Partnership 2018 (PP18) exchanged knowledge and experience with colleagues from the Royal Thai Armed Forces and local doctors and medical students during a medical subject matter expert exchange at Queen Sirikit Hospital May 21.
The lecture series focused on discussing medical care innovations and exchanging ideas on current medical practices while creating lasting bonds between the participants.
“This event today was a great success, enabling us to develop relationships with our partners that enhance our levels of knowledge on the most up to date medical care techniques,” said Lt. Cmdr. Justin Deskin, PP18 medical team. “This is another example of the success of PP18 in creating long-lasting medical partnerships that improve readiness for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief response situations.”
The medical seminar consisted of a series of discussions covering a wide range of healthcare treatment topics, including ocular health, cardiovascular health, diabetes care, gynecological care, dental health, and general primary healthcare.
The collaborative efforts of the participants demonstrates PP18’s ability to develop meaningful relationships based on genuine friendship.
“Our partners from both the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the local community were very engaged and excited to participate in this lecture series, and seeing their enthusiasm increased our own eagerness to work together during the seminar,” said Lt. Kaiser Sultani, PP18 medical team. “We were able to learn from each other in meaningful ways while also realizing that while we may come from different parts of the world and different backgrounds, we are all human and we all have a strong desire to develop these relationships and work together in meaningful ways.”
PP18’s mission is to work collectively with host and partner nations to enhance regional interoperability and disaster response capabilities, increase stability and security in the region, and foster new and enduring friendships across the Indo-Pacific Region.
Pacific Partnership, now in its 13th iteration, is the largest annual multinational humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific.
