JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (NNS) -- Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville (NAVSUP FLCJ) Site NAS Jacksonville was awarded the Naval Retail Fuel Management Activity of the Year for superior fuel support in calendar year 2017.
In 2017, NAVSUP FLCJ Site NAS Jacksonville’s Fuels Division provided JP-5 support for 13,539 aircraft, support equipment and facilities, with total CY17 sales of more than 24.7 million gallons.
The Fuels Division provides direct support for a variety of Navy airframes, including the P-8A Poseidon; P-3C Orion; C-130T Hercules; C-40A Clipper; T-45A Goshawk; E-2C Hawkeye and the MH-60R Seahawk helicopters. FLCJ Site NAS Jacksonville’s Fuel Division's trucks performed refueling transactions with an average wait time of less than 12 minutes, ensuring that our aviators are never waiting on fuel to accomplish their mission. In addition to providing airframes with fuel support, the Fuels Division supported numerous military exercises, the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Blue Angels Airshow, transiting ships, and other foreign military and international organizations.
FLCJ Fuels Operations Specialist Mike Darling said, “Receiving recognition for this award promotes excellence in fuel management and highlights the accomplishments of naval petroleum professionals who continuously demonstrate their pride and professionalism in support of our warfighters. This is an entire team contribution of military, civilian and contractor workforce who each strongly believe in the ‘one team-one fight’ concept.”
During the most recent Inspector General (IG) inspection, FLCJ Site NAS Jacksonville was recognized for “Best Management Practices” for developing robust spill training courses, which included photos of measured quantities of water poured onto concrete as a visual training aid to assess fuel spill quantity estimation.
The Fuels Division earned additional accolades throughout the year, including a “Best Practice” recognition during a 2017 CNIC evaluation assessment for the fuel truck-fall protection system, as well as creating the “Gold Standard” tank trend analysis template, which was subsequently distributed to all FLC regional fuel activities for immediate implementation.
The 2017 Naval Retail Fuel Management Activity of the Year award was presented to the FLCJ Fuels Division by Capt. Matt Ott, commander, Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville.

NAVSUP FLC Jacksonville, one of eight fleet logistics centers under Navy Supply Systems Command, provides operational logistics, business and support services to fleet, shore and industrial commands of the Navy, Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and other joint and allied forces. Services include contracting, regional transportation, fuel, material management, household goods movement support, postal and consolidated mail, warehousing, global logistics and husbanding, hazardous material management, and integrated logistics support.
