MOSUL, Iraq - The Soldiers of Forward Support Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment and Soldiers of Supply and Transportation Troop, Regimental Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment began to close Combat Outpost Intisar in Mosul, Iraq, Nov. 19.
The 4th Battalion, 5th Brigade, 2nd Division Iraqi Army Battalion Military Transition Team has worked out of COP Intisar for eight months now and is leaving soon. There will not be a team replacing them on a battalion level. From now on only the IA brigades in this area will have MiTT teams.
"The mission has moved south for the battalion MiTTs," said Maj. Christopher Tatka, an officer of the redeploying MiTT. "The battalions here can pretty much stand on their own without a MiTT team. The new battalions in the south need the MiTT teams and the battalions here are doing a lot better than they were when we first came a year ago."
