MILITARY Families enjoy pizza, entertainment

“New for this year’s Military Appreciation Day, we have a new imaged store, different cartoon characters and action figures loaned by the USO,” Chris Herd, regional director from MAC Pizza management, said. “We love our Soldiers and giving back to them and their Families.”
Also there to support the Military Appreciation Day was Rachel Brent, a member from the Army Women’s Corps in Killeen, which was started during World War II with their purpose mainly to help both men and women by serving in hospitals and USOs, selling bonds, mending clothes, sending comfort packages to the Women’s Auxiliary Corps and doing anything they could to make life more comfortable for the men and women serving their country.
“I’m promoting different events for veterans,” Brent said as she waited for her loaded pizza. “This was my first year to come here to Domino’s Military Appreciation Day.”
Soldiers and their Families lined up to wash their hands, select their toppings and put the toppings on their free pizzas from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Besides free pizzas and soft drinks, Domino’s brought in a disc jockey from Fort Hood, Tony’s Karaoke & Variety Dance.
“This is our first year, which is amazing to support troops and their Families,” Staff Sgt. Benjamin Castto of the 3rd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division said as his 4-year-old daughter, Gracelyn, and 9-year-old son, Tristyn, made pizzas. “It’s a great event that not all businesses do, especially during the Month of the Military Child.”
