Louisiana Army National Guard officer ranks increase by one

CARVILLE, La. –The Louisiana Army National Guard welcomed a new officer to its ranks at a commissioning ceremony held at the Gillis W. Long Center in Carville, La., Nov. 2. Newly-commissioned 2nd Lt. Chad S. Goynes, 139th Expeditionary Signal Company, left the non-commissioned officer ranks after 13 years of dedicated service to join the officer career field and branch into military intelligence.

A native of Montpelier, La., Goynes was joined on stage at the ceremony by his mother and father, Kathy and Donald Goynes, and his 9-year-old brother, Dylan.

Col. Jacques D. Thibodeaux, commander of the 139th Regional Support Group, presided over the event and pinned Goynes with his new rank during the ceremony.
